Sticky Notes and Prickly Cactus

Some days I step away from my desk...

...from florescent light bulbs, layers of screens, the nagging sound of empty IV's, the drone of medical machines, the staccato strobe of call lights, the shrill sound of wheelchair monitors, pantries full of plastic capsules with acceptable amounts of poison, hand sanitizer, orange lid disinfectant wipes, purple lid disinfectant wipes, red lid disinfectant wipes, white lid disinfectant wipes, rubber gloves, medical masks, centralized air-conditioning, volumes of policies and procedures, online training, usernames and passwords, meetings, meetings after meetings, time clocks, vacuum cleaners, corporate memos, name badges, lunch breaks, emails, voicemails, paper mail, company logos, flu shots, door codes, employee numbers, titles and job descriptions, fire alarms and smoke detectors, security cameras, and sticky notes...

...and I step into the adjacent desert to pee. Disgusting? Weird? Unprofessional? Uncivilized? Taboo?

Or, the most real and natural thing I do all day.
